Solidarity Against Neoliberal Extremism (SANE) is a small activist collective, established in 2017, who identify as municipalists, working to bringing together all those who want to transform the city of Glasgow for the many. They are in the process of collaboratively creating a People’s Plan of Glasgow – a policy Humanifesto upon which Independent Electoral Representatives can stand in the 2022 Scottish Local Government Elections. The People’s Plan Movement functions as a civic platform which involves activist groups, community groups and individuals from across Glasgow and beyond. SANE is developing structures for collective decision making on city and neighborhood level, forming working groups to specific topics and reaching out for communities that have previously been at the margins of city consultations and planning, such as refugees, disabled people, the young, the old and unwaged. Thus they are aiming at institutional transformation, democratization and the feminization of politics.
